My dotcom predictions for 2006

Last year I made several predictions that now seem ridiculously crazy blogger. But a few ideas were pretty close. I've got a feeling that 2006 will be a big year, and here are some of the reasons why:

1. A Palo Alto startup is going to open our eyes to some new ways that web 2.0 can influence culture. Google Alerts will pick up on this and run several cover stories on the founders.
2. Bill Gates will be in the spotlight for his decision to support blog. This will upset jotaesse, and the blogosphere will react great. The noise will quiet before the end of the year and it will all be forgotten soon after the shock.
3. Microsoft will see their stock skyrocket after their live era business starts taking off. We've seen it coming for a while now, but 2006 will be the year it really kicks into gear.
4. Either Bloglines or Google will seek to expand their search engine business by acquiring Internet Explorer. Gmail will be overlooked in the process, and they will see a management shakeout later in the year.
5. One of the big leaders in the mainstream journalism industry will wake up to the opportunity in the Internet and the Web 2.0 trends. After months of speculation, they will make a key merger that will shake up the landscape for years to come.

boa notícia para terminar 2005 e iniciar 2006: centre for citizen media

Dan Gillmore o evangelizador mór do "we, the media" anuncia a criação do

Center for Citizen Media uma organização sem fins lucrativos a ser lançada

no próximo ano, que se dedicará ao estudo da "media cidadã", com o objetivo

de fomentar o que Gillmore define como "grassroots media & citizen journalism".

A instituição já nasce apadrinhada por duas forças indiscutíveis no campo do

estudo do jornalismo do futuro: a  Graduate School of Journalism da University

of California, Berkley, e o Berkman Center for Internet & Society da Harvard.
Gillmore escreve em seu blog:

 "... we need a thriving media and journalism ecosystem.

We need what big institutions do so well, but we also need the bottom-up

- or, more accurately, edge-in - knowledge and ideas of what I've called

the 'former audience' that has become a vital part of the system."

Sir Timothy (Tim) John Berners-Lee, o pai da web, torna-se blogueiro

demorou, mas ele aderiu... e em seu primeiro post, Tim se lança na blogosfera:

"so I have a blog".

e no texto da mensagem, também confessa que, ao criar a web em 1989,

"... em princípio, sua ideia era que a web fosse composta de navegadores/editores (tipo wiki & blogs segundo entendemos em nosso ponto de vista...) online e que ficou surpreso quando a tendencia se desviou para um modelo de edição offline (tipo sites estáticos...)...".

Ou seja, a web foi concebida como ferramenta para troca de informações em um "...espaço criativo...": a blogosphere, i.m.h.o.

E dizendo que, embora até agora não tivesse sentido necessidade urgente de

"... to blog with blogging tools..." resolveu "... to try this blog thing using blog tools... for all the people who have been saying I ought to have a blog".

A blogosfera deve comemorar a adesão deste ilustre blogger...
